How It Works
Our conversion service includes a full firmware update on your existing Enel X chargers, along with comprehensive testing and integration with your central management system. The process involves:

  • Initial consultation to assess your current charging setup.
  • Remote or on-site installation of the open-source OCPP firmware.
  • Testing and verification of firmware functionality.
  • Integration with Electric Avenue’s central management platform or your own OCPP-compliant system.
  • Ongoing support for any issues or questions that may arise.

Service Cost

Please Note: Risks and Limitations

  • Enel X Way did not establish a formal process to migrate their chargers to Electric Avenue or any other network provider. The migration process described has been discovered through the efforts of the remaining staff at Enel and other industry experts under challenging circumstances.
  • There are known weaknesses in Enel’s firmware, and the migration process may fail for various reasons. Should the migration fail, it may render your chargers unusable, which is the same outcome they are likely to face if they remain connected to Enel after their market exit.
  • It is highly likely that the OCPP firmware update applied during migration will be the last firmware your chargers can receive. Although we are confident in providing core network features like EV driver billing and access control, any bugs or limitations inherent in Enel’s firmware may persist throughout the lifetime of your chargers.
  • Load Balancing/Power management capabilities are still under evaluation for Enel chargers running OCPP firmware. We cannot guarantee that power management features will function after migration, but we will keep all site hosts informed as we continue to explore the capabilities and limitations of Enel's chargers.

Despite these risks, we recommend proceeding with the migration, as chargers with firmware limitations are far preferable to chargers that are certain to be non-operational by October 11.
